A link between iron dysregulation, endolysosomal acidification and inflammation: Based on the evidence discussed above, we propose a model that links iron dysregulation, both in neurons and microglia, with endolysosomal acidification, mitochondrial dysfunction and neuroinflammation (Figure 1).
