Abstract: Morphological hallmarks of axonal degeneration (AxD): Axons transmit signals from one neuron to another and are crucial for the proper communication in the nervous system. Therefore, the disintegration of axons, a process named AxD, has detrimental consequences and plays a key role in many neurological diseases.
