Abstract: An aging population is a double-edged sword. On one hand, advancements in biotechnology and healthcare allow more people to enjoy longer lives. On the other hand, increases in the aging population accompany a surge in age-associated diseases, particularly neurodegenerative disorders. Since aging is the primary risk factor for many neurodegenerative disorders, living longer does not necessarily equate to maintaining a reasonable quality of life (Feigin et al., 2020).
